When I lay silent like a shadow, waiting
And led me down the path of dreams
To the waiting chariots that flew me high
Into the realms of beauty and madness
When the night drew its black veil
Muffling the setting sun’s last sigh
Over things which had told their tales
And paused when blackness enveloped
Their spaces and drowned their whispers
The sights and sounds of the night visions
And the multitude of ecstasies they brought
Were mere thoughts but then felt so real
But there dark powers were all temporary
And all journeys must come to an end
I waited for the morning light to spread
Into the vacuum left by yesterday’s end
To bring forth the new day to centre stage
To cast away the dreams that held me back
And to let me act out the drama of Today..
